I had a happy accident on a journal page recently and felt like trying to recreate it on watercolour paper. It's feeling a little "bare bones" to me, I guess because I'm used to having bits stuck out here and there so this one's feeling a little... flat. Filing it away for a revisit later!
The latest ACEO in the shop is a collection of blue watercolour butterflies resting over a cutout heart!
TGIF! Despite my dangerously low productivity today, small steps toward a new art journal video is in progress :)
I'm having one of those days where I'm all tired and headachy and can't focus well enough to do anything right. So I end it by sitting down at my journal while sunlight (finally!) pours in through the suncatchers and spills tiny rainbows onto the carpet. I put a layer of muddy watercolours onto the page, let it dry, and then a second darker layer except for where the birds are. It's a nice, basic technique that never disappoints. And it made a heart shape by accident, ha!
Today's adventure was a new flower made of marshmallow fondant, which is a bit too soft for flowers, but look how crazy this thing is! So many petals for just one flower that kind of looks like a cabbage!
All work and no play etc, etc. My place is full of plants, patio furniture and pots of dirt just in case the mysteriously absent building washers want to spray my balcony down... *bats eyes* So there hasn't been a lot of play going on around here. But I did buy this "antique gold" lustre dust over the rainy weekend and really wanted to try it out! Unfortunately, that meant making a (faux) cake, which isn't as much fun as it sounds.
Yeah, I'm not terribly confident in my fondant skills but look at that gold colour! It's so shiny, too. Maybe it's a little TOO gold... It's practically glowing from the kitchen! It's too bad that it's inedible because how fun does that look?
