On the morning of April 30th, I will be sending progress photos of my recent painting "Gaslighting" to the newletter subscribers.
Partially due to fluctuating work schedule, I made a simple journal page for this week's video. I've been nervously hoarding this little String of Pearls succulent for a week until I couldn't wait any longer and created a little hanging basket for it (to keep it far out of my cats' reach - they're supposed to be toxic). I will have to be quite diligent in my monitorings, but these little beads are just too irresistible to pass up.
Another source of inspiration is Missy Dunaway's amazing and thoughtful journals. I've always gravitated toward examples of literal, artistic record-keeping (though never deeply explored it, myself).
If you're in the area next month, come check out the Piece of Mind show! We use art to discuss the importance of mental health. I'll see you there with "In the Weeds"!
I'm not the type to actually believe in the mystical, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was an omen!
I started this tiny painting quite a while ago, but was discouraged by the slightly off-kilter composition and how painting the diamonds on ended up smudging a lot of the work I originally put into the crow. I still liked it too much to quit, so I put it aside for quite a while until I was willing to fix it up.
This watercolour crow is available here.
I'm pretty much at the center of this journal... This page collects some old moth sketches, some watercolour and a random piece of paper I doodled on from the couch.
Hello! I'm Melissa, and here you'll find some behind-the-scenes footage of an artful life. Won't you join me?
