I made a new watercolour ACEO for this week's video! This card is available here.
The "All Things" show is ending next week and it's been quite a rush of emotions! I feel intense joy for my experience at the little gallery, but beside that is a little bit of disappointment mingling with a bit of lingering fear mixed with nostalgia. Just a tangled bundle of feels smouldering away, since I wasn't able to bring myself to paint very much this entire month! I've started putting paint on this little wood panel, just something random at the end of a big project (and possibly at the beginning of another?). Like a little piece of ginger between sushi rolls. A palate (palette! *smirk*) cleanser.
I occasionally end up with paintings that miss the mark and get put aside in a folder somewhere. Here are a few old ones that I just didn't know what to do with!
Chop chop chop... now those paintings are artist trading cards. Now if only I can find an active trading group where registration actually works properly, I'll be set!
I want to keep practicing with objects in my journal, though I really didn't know what to do with this one afterward. I guess it's a bit unfinished. Or abandoned.
It's been hard to get back into gear after doing so much work for the All Things exhibition (which is going quite well, actually!) that I've been mostly obsessing over organization at home. Reducing visual clutter is amazing for peace of mind, but very challenging in a 650 sq foot apartment with no outside storage. Yeesh.
This earlier sunset is affecting me worse than I thought! And it's still only September. I'm so not looking forward to 5pm sunsets! :(
I did finally get a short creative moment in tonight with this card "Jump". It's my cat. With a peacock tail. Yeah, I'm going back to this I guess. That's cool.
This card is available here.
I got Renew back from the gallery and finally got to document it (oops!). And now it is listed for sale in my Etsy shop.
I've really been taking a serious art break this week and haven't done a single creative thing! All of my recent paintings are hanging in the Newton gallery right now, ready to party on saturday! In the meantime, I've just been going to work, playing video games and reorganizing shelves in my apartment.
Hello! I'm Melissa, and here you'll find some behind-the-scenes footage of an artful life. Won't you join me?
