I thought I was just about finished with the illustration project, until a request for a couple more images came up. Well I just couldn't hold out any longer so I took a quick break to paint a little something new. I even just bought some new tubes of paint for half-price so I'm sitting pretty.
This small painting is available for sale here.
Anyway, so this summer I'd started collecting little succulents, propagating them and putting them in shallow bins/frames to hang up, as one usually does. Well, they took significantly longer to root than expected and didn't really get started until autumn. I left them out, since people do tend to grow them here. Well one specific breed didn't make it through the freeze. The mama plant and all its little babes froze and died. All the others look more or less alive, though!
It's a little sad, but mostly now I've been hesitating in the succulent displays, because now I can't predict which ones are just going to freeze up and which ones won't. Hmm.
I'm growing ever closer to the end of this project and it really shows in this huge stack of paintings! I tend to flip back and forth through them for reference and spotting details that could be enhanced or colours that could be altered slightly. It will be nice to wrap it up. I'm not the type who likes to collect open-ended unfinished projects!
In case you've missed this week's video:
This collectible card is available here, and it's such a good deal because I spent more time on it than I probably should have for a card!
Oh gosh, when was the last time we had a playdate? I suppose the one and only benefit of having my work schedule flipped around is this one random weekday all to myself! I spent it at the Inner Voices studio! I so dream of the day I might have a studio to call my own!
Hello! I'm Melissa, and here you'll find some behind-the-scenes footage of an artful life. Won't you join me?
