As I enter this lonely "weekend", it's a good opportunity to film the requested art journal page. As I may have mentioned, art journaling isn't much at all different from my usual style of making art, which is usually done flying by the seat of my pants. Having gone nowhere nor done anything fun in a while, I'm still at a loss of what to do in this sketchbook. One cannot be inspired by going to work and then coming home everyday.
I performed a somewhat-failed image transfer using a laser-printed photograph and a Chartpak marker. I guess the paper needs to be really smooth, and really white. You'll see what I mean later in the week! I do, however, LOVE the mixed alphabet stencil with the greige modeling paste. It just makes every boring thing instantly better.
My day off alone was not entirely wasted! Spent much of it comforting my cats (the roofers create such incredible noise for 9 hours each day), and stumbling through this sketchbook page. I treated myself to a trip to Opus where I purchased only a fineliner and a palette knife (didn't see much new), but then bought a pack of Dr. Pepper twizzlers in the shop next door. Did you know of such a thing??? They smell like Dr. Pepper, yet taste like not much of anything. Worth it.
Hello! I'm Melissa, and here you'll find some behind-the-scenes footage of an artful life. Won't you join me?
