I'm trying out the Polychromos and to be honest, I'm not noticing a huge difference between these and Prismacolor! These promise no wax bloom, since they are oil based and contain no wax, so that's a plus. Because they are oil based, I guess I was expecting something... smoother. Different. I was told they would layer better. I will have to do a direct comparison I guess. Is it fair, though, because I have an older version of Prismacolor?
Admittedly, I'm not particularly skilled with pencil crayons. They were just an accessible and tidy product for us to turn to when were in high school. Prismas were highly coveted in our youth. Using pencil crayons now, after years of watercolour is an exercise in patience! They're also meant for more textured papers than this flimsy kraft page. I'll have to test another surface to be sure.
