Oh boy oh boy! After struggling to get this done locally, I eventually enlisted CatPrint to help me with my zine printing! I wanted to make a small zine to commemorate the Living Spaces show, and I'm excited to actually have them in hand. It looks great! The extra special thing: I'm guessing that they print slightly more than what is ordered, just in case one of them is missing or messed up in some way. That way, they don't have to set up a job a second time? I wonder this, because I got a few extra copies of things! Instead of 25 zines, I ended up with 28, which is great because I haven't had much luck trying to trim the edges with my dull blade....
While I was ordering the prints, I saw that they have holographic cardstock! I couldn't resist... I got some 3.5x5" holographic cards made up with my artwork and they are my favourite thing right now. I chopped them up into individual baseball-sized cards to bring along with the zines.
I am seriously considering taking a bunch of them, mixing up all of the pictures, and dividing them into packs of five. At the show, I could sell them in small trading packs! You won't know which ones you'll get, but it would be a very cool ice-breaker to trade them with other visitors at the show! Especially since public events tend to be a bit... nervous and awkward, with some standing and snacking and what-do-we-do-now expressions.
I'm not sure if the gallery would be cool with exactly that, but it's worth a try!
