This rather extensive journal page is technically a sneak peek, if I can get myself together long enough to bring it to *life*. The previous page contains a study of different kinds of carp (there are so many!), and so I've united some of them onto one page. What chaos! What competition! The koi and the goldfish come out on top as they are so fancy, and so highly regarded. It wouldn't surprise me if the common carp below felt at least a little resentful.
Sketchbooks are a great place to take images from your mind and put them out onto paper to see what works and what doesn't. I'm just as guilty of jumping right into a fancy piece of paper or a canvas only to get something terribly wrong, wish I could fix it, and then immediately abandon it. Or worse, never start anything out of fear of "ruining" the substrate or self-disappointment. There's an awful lot less pressure inside of a bounty of economical drawing papers!
Hello! I'm Melissa, and here you'll find some behind-the-scenes footage of an artful life. Won't you join me?
