This "weekend" is passing too quickly and with the bitterness of knowing that it is passing too quickly. Trying to cram in as much fun and function as possible can be self-defeating! Yesterday we booked a family day, squeezing in a few annoying chores and then taking off to the aquarium for a peaceful afternoon. Of course, I should have realized that the exhibited butterflies would be long dead by October. It's my favourite exhibit, so that was disappointing.
However, the fish were fantastic as usual, and we got to see some dolphin training. We also learned that it's very advantageous to wear bright red! All of the animals were quite happy to see us, and we couldn't figure out why until we saw the feeding/training staff come out in red uniforms. Whoops. Sorry, little dudes!
Speaking of little dudes, I never did think of anything clever to do with the succulents I keep collecting. I don't get nearly enough sun, and so they never did grow much (the jades do look a bit larger). The hens/chicks looked sad so I pulled them out to start anew. It SEEMS like I have fewer somehow. We have naughty cats, so it's a real pain to bring these indoors over the winter. I literally stapled together some sacks out of fabric scraps and hung them in the window. The staples are so unstable that it's a miracle that they haven't exploded into a shower of soil already. This is the most precarious & desperate plant setup I've created thus far. What am I doing.
Hello! I'm Melissa, and here you'll find some behind-the-scenes footage of an artful life. Won't you join me?
