I'm gingerly laying paint on this old canvas (coated in Golden Absorbent Ground) and the watercolour responds a bit unpredictably on the ground... I still like the buttons, especially soaked in paint here. What's unfortunate is the underlying painting, particularly the teal mica sections, is turning out to be impossible to obscure with paint, gesso, and ground. I have no idea how I'm going to resolve that one.
