My sketchbook/art journal method is evolving; the Renew journal was a place to develop ideas and store information. This "Song" sketchbook has so many (thin) pages, that the sheer abundance of surface area has made me want to use more of it! This sketchbook is doing more recording of life; it's collected a quick, late-night sketch of the mountains we'd passed on the ferry. I painted a record of the raven we listened to every day. Inspired by a piece of fiber artwork hanging on the wall, I copied its design inside a doodle on the opposite page. Ideas have not been developing at all, but I like where the sketchbook itself is going.
So compared to the rest of the world, complaining about the heat will make me seem like a gigantic wuss. It's been 30C for several weeks now, but the humidity is just wild. The plants have burned up to a crisp in the sun, and now they are all literally burning absolutely everywhere. Sunday morning we awoke to what looked like red overcast, which was just a huge cloud of smoke. Ashes were falling from the sky. I suspect there were supposed to be mountains in this photo, but I can't remember. My cats are wilting.
